Hi, I’m
Sandy The Smart Saver and I’m here to give you some
tips on Planning - Saving – Investing For
Retirement. But, first let me tell you a little bit
about me.
I'm real.
I'm not just another pretty face. I'm smart. I have
my own personality. I'm cool. I have a sense of
humor...some might say I'm a bit squirrelly. I have
a bite to me...in more ways than one.
Why do I
have my own space here? I’m glad you asked. Frankly,
I know there’s a real need
I read the papers and
magazines (Wall Street Journal, the New York Times,
Barron's, Kiplinger’s, Money¼
you know, the standard stuff that the Wall Street
guys read on the subway). I love Maria on
CNBC. I always look forward to talking with the guys
on "The Street." I'd really like to have my own chat
room. As you can see, I'm not your average squirrel.
And, from
what I see and hear, a lot of you guys need help.
How do I know that? Just about every Retirement
Confidence Survey shows that most humans need help.
Example: only one-third of Americans have tried to
calculate how many acorns (read "how much money" for
humans) they will need for retirement. I also know
that you don't want just the "same old, same old"
stuff. And that's where I shine.
I promise
not to confuse or overwhelm you with financial
jargon, lingo and gobbledygook like "buying on dips"
and "their P/E’s are looking good." I’ll stay away
from those 12 syllable words. We’ll take a
light-hearted approach and make the whole saving -
investing for retirement process a "fun" event. I am
not your average squirrel.
As you can
see, I'm a little nuts about saving and investing
for retirement. Why? Because like you guys, I know
it’s up to me. I know I'm responsible for developing
and implementing my own retirement plan. I'm the CEO
in charge of my retirement. And, that's the way I
like it because I'm in control. By now, you may have
suspected that I’m a bit of a control freak and if
you have, I think you are a very perceptive
individual.
But, I
don’t give tips. I have to maintain my credibility.
I’ll leave that to the guys that Maria talks to.
Like all hot tips, sometimes they are right,
oftentimes, they are wrong. But, I’ve got my own job
to do, so, let’s get on with it. Like Mrs. Felix, my
second grade teacher used to say, "Pay attention".
And, if you like what I have to say, be sure to tell
your friends about me. You’d better be here. I’ll be
taking attendance.
"The
beginning is the most important part of the work."
